Robot Shooter

Clear robot-held rooms. Bank your scrap. Upgrade. Redeploy.

Robot Shooter is a first-person roguelite shooter. Fight through rooms held by robots, collect the scrap they drop, and choose after every room: push on for more, or extract and bank it. Die, and the scrap you haven't banked is lost. Spend what you've banked in the Workshop on upgrades that stay between runs, then deploy again.

Features

• Three sectors, 11 rooms: a night-shift smelting works, a desert refinery at dusk, and a research base on a far moon.
• Three bosses: the Titan, the twin Titans and the Warden.
• Three weapons: the hitscan Pulse Rifle, the Plasma Launcher's blasts and, once the Workshop has unlocked it, the Arc Caster's chain lightning.
• Perks: after each cleared room, pick one of three perk cards for the rest of the run.
• The Workshop: 36 permanent upgrades, paid in scrap.
• Objective rooms: hold a zone, take down the generators, survive an onslaught.

Controls

WASD: move
Mouse: aim, left button: fire
Shift: sprint  ·  Space: jump  ·  R: reload
1 / 2 / 3 or mouse wheel: weapons (3 is the Arc Caster, once the Workshop has unlocked it)
E (hold): extract, on an extraction pad
1 / 2 / 3: pick a perk card
Esc or P: pause and settings

The movement, weapon and interaction keys can be rebound in Settings. Settings also has the FOV, the sensitivity, invert Y, hold or toggle sprint, camera shake and head bob, colour-blind hitmarkers and a reduced-flashes option.

An early version

Robot Shooter is in development, and this free version grows with every update. Coming next:

• Music (the game has sound effects, but no music yet)
• A dash
• Medals
• Elite robots: shielded, fast and volatile
• Gamepad support

Starting the game

• Unzip the whole folder and run robotshooter.exe.
• Windows may say "Windows protected your PC", because the game isn't signed with a paid certificate. Click More info, then Run anyway.
• The first start, and the first start after an update, takes a little longer while your graphics driver prepares the shaders.
• On a laptop, if motion judders, set Settings > Display > Frame Rate Cap to 60.

System requirements

• Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit
• A graphics card with Vulkan 1.1 support (most cards since about 2014) and a current graphics driver
• Minimum (the lowest PC tested so far): a laptop with an AMD Ryzen 7 6800HS, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Laptop GPU (4 GB) and 16 GB RAM, which runs it at 1080p on High
• Also tested: a desktop with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070
• Older PCs may well run it on Low or Medium. If you play on one, the F3 overlay's numbers in the comments or the Discord help us set a real minimum.
